What Are "Friulane"?

Friulane (also known as Le Furlane or Venetian slippers) trace their roots to the late 19th century.  

Are Traditional handmade shoes from northeastern Italy originally created as practical footwear for rural communities in the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy.                                                                                                Made during periods of economic hardship by women using scraps of fabric, old clothing, and bicycle tires to create Le Friulane. A real symbol of resourcefulness and sustainable craftsmanship long before sustainability became a modern concept. 

Connection to Venice

Friulane gained popularity in Venice. Their soft soles allowed gondoliers to move comfortably without damaging the painted surfaces of gondolas.

Over time, they became associated with Venetian elegance and relaxed luxury.

Today, they are also often referred to as "Venetian slippers.

The Handmade Tradition

Authentic Friulane are still produced using traditional artisanal methods. Each pair involves:                                                                         Hand-cutting fabrics,                                                                         Manual stitching,                                                                                 Careful assembly of the upper and sole,                                     Detailed finishing only by skilled artisans.
